Day 2 Boston

Well today was the day of the hurricane! Apparently Albert was paying a visit and although it wasn’t particularly easy to get information it appeared we were to have rain throughout the day with the bulk of the storm due tonight just as 4^th of July celebrations should hit full swing!

This morning, given the weather, we chose to stay close to home and attend the local parade. It was a great choice since I suspect Boston was geared to tourists and we had a more authentic celebration of local flavor! It was exactly as I had imagined a small town 4^th of July celebration!

Boy Scouts with Super Soakers! Those little guys were having a riot spraying the crowd. Since Mother Nature had beat them to it, no one really seemed to mind!

 Crazy lookin' dudes were everywhere!

 Countless marching bands, many of them very good.

 

All ages out for a good time! You can't really tell in this picture but this guy had ridden in many a parade!

 



Following the parade and the beginning of the rain, it was back to the trailer to while away the hours with my latest novel, listening to the rhythm of rain on the trailer roof and watching the verdant green of the surrounding woods pop with the grey day and the slick wetness of fresh rain.

As I finish this entry it’s 10:00 at night and the rain has not stopped for even a moment since 11:00 this morning! According to the latest reports the heaviest rain is yet to fall!! Beginning to wonder if this thing floats?

I spoke too soon...I was interrupted from sending this when water began to drip enthusiastically from our skylight! Our ceiling is now partly dismantled, MacGyver has paper towel wadded in each corner of where the skylight used to be, and pots are at the ready! Oh the adventures of life on the open road!
